Blue Opal Usb Adapter Driver

My laptop doesn't have a serial port, so I've been trying to find a decent USB to serial adapter. However, I've gone through 3 or 4 and they all cause blue screen's. It seems to be worse when it's transmitting a lot of text. I'm not doing anything crazy - just serial communication to my Cisco switches. It seems like the ones I've used all use a 'Prolific' brand driver. I'm guessing that's the problem. Can anyone recommend a decent USB to serial adapter they've gotten to reilably work with Win 7 x64?

I don't mind spending some money to get a decent one. Although there are a ton of these, they all use one of two chips: Prolific or FTDI. I've found the prolific ones to be generaly unreliable and extremely picky about drivers - specific version for specific OS/SP levles etc and in general a real PITA. FTDI adapters OTOH, appears to be very stable and offers more options in their driver and that is what I use.

Jira Keygen Jaromir. Short of the manufacturer telling you which chip it uses, a quick way to tell the difference is the FTDI adapters generally have activiy LEDs but the Prolific adapters don't.
